Russ and Kate both shared a dream – that of a castle on the sandy shores of the beautiful Lake Malawi.  Many community partnerships were formed to realise this dream; drawing on local skills and craftsmen to design and build this astonishing building.

The eight large en-suite rooms and four tower suites are thoughtfully planned and locally furnished. Crisp cotton linen sheets and walk in mosquito nets ensure rest, whilst a cool breeze enters through the shuttered windows along with the calming ebb and flow of the nearby lake surf.  The room rates are based on two people sharing and include a hearty breakfast.

An excellent lunch and dinner menu are also available in the restaurant, all prepared under the watchful eye of Mama Rhoda in her kitchen. Most ingredients are locally sourced; many grown on the grounds of the castle. Bread, biscuits and cakes are freshly baked daily. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated, if informed on booking, and a special menu can be prepared.

Whatever your definition is for relaxation, Kachere Kastle will endeavour to meet it … from reclining on a sun lounger to paddling in a kayak … reading in a hammock, to cycling through local villages … supping a cocktail at our swim-up bar to watching a movie under a star-filled sky back-dropped by the Viphya Mountains … yoga on the castle ramparts, to playing a set of squash on the full-size  court.  The Kachere estate is great to explore but If you wish to travel a little further afield a horse-riding stable, PADI dive school, 9-hole golf course or Nkhotakota Game Reserve can be part of a fun day excursion.

Kachere Kastle is available for exclusive hire for personal celebrations and gatherings or corporate events and team building.  Free WiFi is available through-out the Castle and estate.
