Barefoot Safaris was founded in 1992 by Ken Smith, who was born in Africa and has lived here for all his life, so developing a deep knowledge of each and every remote corner of this impressive continent. We passionately believe that bespoke holidays are made special by the people involved, the unique locations of the lodges, and the intimate and personal nature of each trip – it is with this ethos that Ken and his dedicated team plan seamless holidays for discerning clients wanting something out of this world. Ken’s deep love and passion for Africa is portrayed in our safaris and our knowledgeable guides sharing their own passion about Africa with you. At Barefoot Safaris, our teams come from diverse backgrounds, and are spread across three continents. Our expertise ranges from tracking leopards, to planning itineraries tailored to your unique interests.

Barefoot Safaris is registered in South Africa, Zambia and in Malawi, and are based in Lilongwe and Cape Town. Barefoot Safaris specializes in small group adventure and photographic tours. We also offer safaris with an emphasis on walking or trekking and for the more experienced traveller we offer individually designed or bespoke itineraries.

Barefoot Safaris also operates the following Lodges: Lilongwe, Johannesburg and Cape Town.
