Malawi Airlines (previously known as Malawian Airlines) is the flag carrier of Malawi. It is a Private Public Partnership institution established between Malawian Government (51%) and its strategic partner Ethiopian Airlines (49%). The airline flies to Johannesburg, Harare, Dar-es-Salaam, Lusaka by providing convenient and direct flights to its domestic destinations Lilongwe and Blantyre via its hub in Lilongwe.
With its strategic partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, passengers travelling from Europe can now conveniently plan their travel arrangements within Africa. Ethiopian Airlines operates daily flights to Lilongwe & Blantyre from Heathrow and most of its European points (Dublin, Frankfurt, Paris, Brussels, Madrid, Vienna, Stockholm, Rome, Milan) via its modern hub in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  Its modern fleet consists of Boeing 787 Dreamliners, 777s, 737s and was ranked by IATA in 2014 as the largest carrier in Africa in terms of revenue and profit.
In addition to promoting the image of Malawi, through its activities, the airline is playing vital role in the economic growth by facilitating access for tourism, investment, enhancing trade and generates and save hard currency for the country. The company therefore assists the development of the country.
