Charities & Development Linked to Tourism

Fisherman’s Rest is an excellent place to start in Malawi. We organise unforgettable holidays and projects. We introduce our visitors to Malawian culture, people and language through community visits and interactive activities. Fun, laughter and engaging with local people prepare the ground for a more meaningful and exciting experience, when moving on to explore the rest of Malawi. Over the last twenty years we have worked in Malawi, introducing visitors and guests to villages, schools, churches, prisons, hospitals and clinics. We have established many lasting friendships and relationships. We strive to offer continuity in the projects we are involved in through the teams, groups, families and individuals who visit Fisherman’s Rest.

Spend some time with us and connect with the community by visiting Fisherman's Rest Community Trust: 'Tilitonse' (we are together) and engage in games, arts, crafts, carpentry, pottery, gardening and even sports tournaments. Join the Book Bus team on a converted mobile library safari truck, painted with Quentin Blake's illustrations and visit schools, teaching and reading as you go. This includes storytelling, illustrating, reading lessons and lots of fun and games. Computers and Libraries do go together! We would love help teaching IT skills in one of the twenty-three schools nearby. Or converting a classroom into a library or computing suite. We are also involved in kitting out classrooms with benches, running community health workshops and much more... Fisherman’s Rest will fit people’s skills and passions into a suitable project. Our dream is to see a passing on of knowledge or simply giving one another a useful helping hand and allowing friendships to blossom.
