Totally Zenning Out at Lake Malawi

Blog Category: 'Lake Malawi'

At Robin Pope Safari’ Pumulani Lodge, there are a few favoured ways to get to know the glistening body of water that is Lake Malawi and most of them involve surrendering to it and totally zenning out. This is a very easy thing to do once you’ve been acquainted with the big blue.

Here's how we slow it down and zen out best on Lake Malawi:

Dhow Cruise

A slow and relaxing way to enjoy the tranquillity of Lake Malawi is on Pumulani’s 40ft traditional, hand crafted dhow. The dhow itself is an impressive work of art, but coupled with a sunset and a cocktail in hand, it’s a dreamy ‘on the water’ retreat. Once the sun has set the stars twinkle brightly and the fishermen light up their hurricane lamps on their boats which reflect on the water too. It’s a magical sight.

Dinner by the Lake

Malawi certainly has sparkle, but the nocturnal Lake Malawi seriously shines bright. With the chilly temperatures rolling in, the skies have been so clear making for incredible star-gazing and romantic beach dinners for guests. You have your partner by your side, the sand between your toes, and Lake Malawi’s leading lights creating other-worldly night time views. This is romance.

Kayak

A gentle paddle is one very mindful and personal way to appreciate the beauty the lake provides. From a hippo eye view of your surroundings you’ll feel a deeper connection with the landscape. Witness a fish eagle snatching its prey and kick back with the fish below you and the mountain vistas above. This is peace.

Peace, love, Zen, and Lake Malawi! This combo is the typical beach holiday rhythm at Pumulani Lodge. On the water, beside the water, or totally submerged, it’s impossible to not find peace while you’re here.
