Community Projects at Pumulani

Responsible tourism is a big part of the ethos at Robin Pope Safaris. Each of the lodges takes an active part in helping out the local community in their area, whether it is assisting with education, food or healthcare.  Recently, Robin Pope Safaris’ Pumulani Lodge launched a new project to assist the albino children in the Monkey Bay and Cape Maclear areas.

Albino children have in the past received very little support and this project aims to help them deal with massive challenges that they face on a daily basis in these underprivileged communities. With the assistance from guests, Pumulani received donations for them of SPF 50 sunscreen; lip balms and protective clothing which will all help make the lives of these children much more comfortable.  Already, a large improvement has been seen in the skin condition of many of the albino children since the lodge began assisting them.

All of this would not be possible without the contributions from Pumulani Lodge guests. Thanks to them, Pumulani has managed to also supply stationery to the children in the village for the school term. Pumulani supports 12 children at the Nankwali Secondary School and something as simple as pens and writing pads can make such a big difference to these children’s education.
