The eastern shore of Lake Malawi opposite Central Malawi is Mozambique territory. Population densities are much lower in Mozambique and so the shoreline has far fewer settlements. Villages are few and far between and signs of human development are limited, giving the shore a great feeling of untouched wilderness.
Rocky bays and deserted beaches are backed by unspoilt forests and more open bushland.
An new eco-Lodge, the Mbuna Bay Retreat has recently opened. This is a beactiful lodge that gives access to this wonderful area whilst supporting a number of local community projects.
