Luwawa Forest Lodge is located in the Viphya Mountains in northern Malawi, a pleasa
nt and malaria–free climate, at 5500 ft (1700m) above sea level. It is only 8 km (5 miles) east of the main M1 road in the Luwawa Forest Reserve. Access is by means of a good all-weather dirt road only 3 hours from Lilongwe.
The lodge is ideally situated in the beautiful and tranquil Luwawa Valley overlooking Luwawa Dam which is well stocked with a variety of fish including chambo and black bass. Fishing in season is permitted. Bed and breakfast or full board is available and payment is by cash or travellers cheque. Camping is available. Luwawa is renowed for its variety of colourful birdlife and bushback are frequently seen. The comfortable and spacious family accommodation, full-catering and bar facilities make it an ideal place for a family holiday.
Activities on offer are squash, table tennis, sailing, canoeing, fishing, mountain biking, rock climbing, absailing, trail walking, birding, orienteering, forest fitness courses, etc. Equipment for most of the activities and instructors are available for hire. Guided walks into very remote areas, rides and drives and night drives of duration to suit your requirement can also be arranged.
