The Sanctuary Lodge is a new eco-friendly lodge, on the banks of the Lingadzi river in
the heart of Lilongwe, that will be open from March 2008. Individual spacious, en suite chalets, each with its own veranda and view, will offer guests unique accommodation in the centre of Lilongwe. The lodge is situated in 90 hectares of natural woodland within the Lilongwe Nature Sanctuary.The birdlife is prolific. A restaurant and bar will cater for individual tastes. A spacious and independent campsite is also available. This offers campers well appointed ablutions, a campsite restaurant and bar together with a swimming pool.
On
the opposite side of the river, the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre (supported by the Born Free Foundation), offers guests the opportunity to explore wilderness trails in the Nature Sanctuary. Sundowners and bird walks along the river can be arranged and VIP tours of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre are also on offer, giving guests an interesting insight into wildlife conservation and rehabilitation in Malawi.
Land and Lake Safaris, the operator of the Lodge, support wildlife conservation in Malawi and have pledged a percentage of its profits to the Centre to support its wildlife efforts.
