Nkhotakota

Nkhotakota Safari Lodge is one of two Nyasa Lodges in Malawi. Just 12km south of Nkhotakota, which has been described as the largest village in Africa, the lodge stands surrounded by indigenous trees with all the chalets having a beach setting with stunning views of Lake Malawi. There are just five traditional, thatched rondavels and three spacious, deluxe chalets. All the chalets have mains electricity, ensuite bathrooms and mini-bars. Two of the chalets have upstairs balconies with outdoor baths. Relax under the trees and stars in a warm or cool bath and admire the view in the cooling breeze of the lake.

Each rondavel has a shaded area with deck chairs while the chalets have large khondes (verandas) overlooking the lake. The Nyasa Restaurant serves a full international menu with a wine list of fine South African and French wines. There is a separate and well stocked bar.

Escorted trips are available to the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, the third largest of Malawi’s parks and reserves and noted for its elephant population and beautiful river rapids. Other excursions are made to Nkhotakota, notorious as a slave trade port and guests can try their skills in the famous pottery close to the lodge.

The second property of Nyasa Lodges is Dedza Pottery Lodge and the company also offers tours which include stays at their lodges and other highlights in Malawi and Zambia.
