Dzalanyama Forest Reserve

Dzalanyama, (situated 60 km (37 miles) southwest of Lilongwe), is a range of steep sided hills running NW – SE for 70 km (45 miles) forming a border which runs between Malawi and Mozambique.

Dzalanyama Forest Lodge has 4 bedrooms, a large lounge / dining area with fireplace and there is a gas freezer / fridge. Lighting is provided by gas lamps. The Lodge is self catering and guests must bring their own food which will be prepared by the resident cook according to their requirements.

The Lodge is set overlooking the Makata Stream amongst brachystegia trees, which are maintained to attract the wide variety of birds and butterflies that frequent this habitat. It is the ideal retreat from which to enjoy bird watching, hiking or to simply enjoy the solitude of the surrounding forest. Hyena, leopard and a, recently, a small group of sable antelope have been sighted along with the regular sightings of baboon and duiker.

Transfers can be arranged and children are welcome.
